Daniel Dominguez Teruel: Requiem for Architecture, photo: Johannes Treß

Artist and composer Daniel Dominguez Teruel tackles the transiency of the Elbphilharmonie in his piece Requiem For Architecture. In a way hardly perceptible to humans, pigeons are warded off from the Elbphilharmonie with an acoustic weapon whose purpose is to protect the building fabric from their faeces. But even this monumental building will not outlast time and is subject to the natural process of decay. The artist’s dovecot anticipates the decay of this building, cooing a requiem in the course of a long durational performance as well as a concert in the Elbphilharmonie.
